There are 43 species of dolphins found in the world.There are 38 marine dolphins, and 5 river dolphins.
Dolphins are cetacean mammals closely relaited to whales and porpoises.
Female dolphins are called "cows" and males are called "bulls!" Baby dolphins are called "calves." The delphinidae family is the largest in the order Cetacea.
Dolphins are very intelligent and they seem to be well loved by humans. This aquatic mammal has been able to fascinate us in a variety of ways. They are curious, form strong bonds within their pod, and they have been known to help humans in a variety of circumstances including rescues and with fishing. Dolphins may be well loved by many humans, but they are also at risk due to the efforts of humans.
A dolphin may be able to dive up to 1,000 feet.
